SMA Music Exchange Project
Vision & Mission
Over the last five years, Surrey Music Academy (SMA) has been developing partnership with leading music institutions, educators and orchestras both in the UK and internationally. Our mission is to promote cross-cultural musical collaboration through high-quality summer music programmes, performances and educational exchange, nurturing the next generation of young musicians while building meaningful artistic connections across borders.
One of these valued collaborations is with the English Chamber Orchestra (ECO), one of the world's most distinguished chamber orchestra. This partnership has involved concerts and educational projects supported by ECO principals.
Workshops & Programme
Instruments and Grade
This particular project is designed for advanced young string players at Grade 7 level and above (minimum requirement).
Applications are invited from musicians in the following instruments:

Viola
Cello
Double Bass
Rehearsal Time and Location
Friday 3rd July: Afternoon rehearsal and evening workshop at the Warehouse in Waterloo
Saturday 4th July: All day rehearsal and workshops at the Warehouse in Waterloo
Sunday 5th July: Afternoon rehearsal and early evening concert at St Paul's Church at Covent Garden

Grieg – Holberg Suite selected Movements – Prelude; Sarabande; Gavotte (10’)
Bach – Air on the G string (4’)
Warlock – Capriol Suite (11’)
Shostakovich – Waltz No. 2 from Jazz Suite (4’) – arrangement TBC

Mozart- Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (15’)
Holst – St Paul’s Suite (12’)
Elgar – Serenade for Strings (12’)
Fees & Registration
£98 | 3-Day Workshop & Concert
The fee includes participation in all rehearsals and the final concert performance.
Participants are requested to:
